Wella Professionals is preparing to launch Pure
Perfection, a new permanent hair colour line designed to
combine pure, predictable tonal results with an ammonia-free formula and
clinically assessed hair-quality benefits.
Expected from September 2026, the range arrives with
30 intermixable shades, up to 100% grey coverage and a major practical
advantage for existing Wella salons: Pure Perfection works with
Welloxon Perfect, so there is no new dedicated developer to buy or
stock.
For colourists, however, the most interesting part is not simply the
absence of ammonia. Pure Perfection introduces Wella’s
Supercharged Metal Purifier Technology, a system
developed to manage the metals present in hair during the oxidative
colour process and help reduce visible signs of damage.

What makes Pure Perfection
different?
Wella describes Pure Perfection as a meeting point between “clean”
formulation choices and clinically proven performance — an approach the
brand calls “cleanical” colour.
Each of the 30 shades is constructed around a single, uncompromised
major tone. A balanced neutral base supports that tone, with the aim of
delivering colour that is easier to read, mix and predict behind the
chair. Rather than building a very large launch palette, Wella has
selected a compact range covering natural, intense natural, ash, pearl,
violet, brown, gold, copper and red directions.
The range is designed for clients who want the longevity and coverage
of permanent colour while also asking for an ammonia-free,
fragrance-free salon experience. It may be particularly relevant for
grey-coverage clients, guests concerned about visible signs of damage,
and salons looking for a permanent line with a deliberately concise
palette.
Supercharged Metal
Purifier Technology
Metals can accumulate inside the hair fibre through water and other
environmental exposure. During oxidative colouring, these metals can
contribute to oxidative stress and affect both colour predictability and
the condition of the hair.
According to Wella, its scientists identified iron as especially
relevant during ammonia-free permanent colouring. The resulting
Supercharged Metal Purifier Technology, developed over
15 years, is designed to target multiple metal types, including iron,
rather than concentrating mainly on copper.
Wella reports the following results versus untreated hair, based on
an expert-panel clinical study:
- 55% more shine
- 45% more smoothness
- 42% more nourished-looking hair
These are measurements of visible and sensory signs of hair quality;
they should not be interpreted as a claim that permanent colour leaves
the internal hair structure untouched.

The new
“0% standard” — and an important allergy warning
Pure Perfection is formulated with:
- 0% ammonia
- 0% fragrance
- 0% mineral oils
- 0% silicones
- 0% PPD/PTD
It is also vegan and dermatologically tested on sensitive skin.
However, PPD/PTD-free does not mean allergy-free or suitable for
a client with a known PPD/PTD allergy. Wella explicitly advises
against using the product on anyone with a known PPD/PTD allergy because
a severe reaction may still occur.
As with other oxidative colourants, professionals must follow the
current instructions supplied in their market and perform the required
allergy alert test 48 hours before every application,
even when the client has coloured their hair before.
Does Pure Perfection
need a new developer?
No. Pure Perfection is mixed with the existing Wella
Professionals Welloxon Perfect developers.
For standard permanent-colour services, mix:
1 part Pure Perfection + 1 part Welloxon Perfect
Example: 60 g Pure Perfection + 60 g Welloxon Perfect.

For a lengths-and-ends refresh, Wella also gives an alternative
option: mix Pure Perfection with Welloxon Perfect 1.9% in a 1:2
ratio, apply after the root formula and develop for up to 20
minutes. Wella also notes that a suitable demi-permanent Wella
Professionals colour may be used to refresh lengths and ends.
Application and development
time
Pure Perfection is applied to dry hair with a bowl and brush while
wearing suitable gloves.
- Without heat: 30–40 minutes
- With heat: 15–20 minutes
- Lengths-and-ends refresh with 1.9% at 1:2: up to 20
minutes
For grey coverage, begin in the areas with the highest percentage of
white hair. Resistant areas require fine sections and full saturation.
If the regrowth is longer than 2.5 cm, Wella recommends a mid-band
application before applying directly to the root, helping to manage the
temperature difference close to the scalp.
After development, add a small amount of warm water, emulsify and
rinse thoroughly. Cleanse with a Wella Professionals shampoo and use the
recommended post-colour treatment to neutralise oxidation residues and
stabilise the colour. Wella also highlights an easy-rinse system
requiring only one shampoo.
